Nightmare on Elm Street in Barre  : Times Argus Online break on nightmare on elm street

Nightmare on Elm Street in Barre& 13;

& 13; Nightmare on Elm Street in Barre

Drivers beware of that right-hand turn on Elm Street next to the library if you are stopped, waiting for the red light to turn green and there also are pedestrians standing on the corner waiting for the walk signal to cross.

You both are in danger of a tragedy waiting to happen. The light turns green for the driver, so does the walk signal for the pedestrians to cross at the same time.

Here you are thinking that the person is not going to cross when you are making that turn and boom, there are people just about to get hit.

I came close to hitting someone and they gave me a look of, "What are you doing?" They do not realize that my light is green and their walk signal is in sync with the driver's green light to proceed. I contacted the Barre Police Department and response was "you should have your car under control at all times."

We all know that is true, but no way is a green light and walk light supposed to work at the same time. It does not seem to be a concern to the Barre City police, and then a horrible accident will happen with that green light turning, and the crossing walk signal turning at the same time, and then it is too late.

You will be responsible as the driver, and devastated because you have hit or killed someone. You are not safe to drive onto Elm after the red light turns green when people are waiting to cross, as you will be in for a scary situation.

Come on, Barre. Fix these lights.
